A tiger looks straight ahead from this large pendant, its face carved in deep relief. Every stripe on the forehead and cheeks is cut into the metal and darkened in black, while the long nose, the brow and the tips of the pointed ears are polished bright. A ruff of fine lines frames the face like a mane, and two small round eyes stare out under a heavy brow.
A bold tiger head on a box chain
The contrast between the blackened grooves and the shiny raised lines gives the piece an antique, oxidized look that shows the detail from a distance. The head hangs from a wide bail on a chain of round box links, long enough to wear over a shirt or a sweater.
