Ancient Tiger Painting

A tiger lies stretched across five canvas panels, its body low and its face turned toward the viewer, its chest resting above a pale rock. The palette is cool: brown and cream fur, black stripes touched with silver, and a frosted blue-gray background scratched with fine light strokes. The curled tail fills the panel on the far left, while the panel on the far right holds only the misty backdrop.

One tiger across five panels

The center panel is the tallest and carries the face, the two panels beside it are a step shorter, and the outer pair are the smallest, so the set forms a stepped line on the wall. Hung with even gaps, the body still reads as one picture. Despite its name, the image is a modern, almost photographic rendering rather than an old scroll, and the long history of tigers in painting is traced in our article on the place of the tiger in art. More designs hang in our tiger canvas collection.

Sizes, framing and canvas

The set comes in Medium, Large and XL, and the canvas size chart gives the measurements for each size. Two models are offered: No Frame, which is the printed canvas alone, and Framed, which comes mounted on a wooden frame. The canvas is a blend of cotton and linen.
