Devil Bengal Tiger Statue

Carved in pale wood, a small tiger sits on a rectangular plinth and grins with two fangs showing, its round black eyes set under thick curled brows. A round collar circles its neck, and from it hangs a charm shaped like a plum blossom, trimmed with little beads, bearing the Chinese character 虎, which means tiger.

A mischievous tiger in the Chinese style

The stripes are cut as soft grooves down the back and shoulders, a spiral curls on the haunch, and the ringed tail rises in an S beside the body. The round face and wide smile give it a cheeky, impish character more than a fierce one, which suits its devil nickname. The style recalls the tigers of Chinese decorative carving. It makes a small companion for a desk or a shelf, and our tiger statue collection gathers larger pieces in brass and resin.

Size and material

The statue measures 6.5x4.2x7 cm, small enough to sit in the palm. It is carved from limewood and left unpainted, with a polished surface that keeps the wood smooth to the touch and the fine details of the face, paws and tail crisp.
