Authentic Chinese Zodiac Tiger Statue

Perched on a rocky outcrop, this silver-colored tiger twists its head up and back in an open-mouthed roar. A ruff of finely cut lines circles its neck, the stripes along its body are stippled into the metal, and swirling scrolls like stylized clouds curl over its shoulders and haunches. Its tail wraps around beneath it, and more cloud and wave shapes are carved into the base.

The tiger of the Chinese zodiac

The tiger is the third animal of the Chinese zodiac, and in tradition it is linked with courage and protection, which makes this figure a fitting piece for anyone born in a Year of the Tiger. The engraved swirls echo the style of ancient Chinese metalwork, part of a tradition of tiger art that reaches back more than 2500 years. Its darker recesses bring out every line of the carving against the bright metal. Our article on whether we can keep a tiger statue at home looks at where such figures are placed, and our tiger statue collection holds more designs.

Size and material

The statue is made of white copper with a polished finish. It measures 16x4.5x15 cm and weighs 1 kg, which gives it a solid feel in the hand.
