Indonesian Tiger Statue Ebony Wood

Head raised in a roar, this carved tiger grips a rising ledge of rock with its front paws while its long tail curls down around a back foot. The wood is polished to a deep reddish-brown sheen, and the stripes are cut as short grooves across the shoulders, flanks and legs, with a fringe of fur along the belly and a ruff around the neck.

A carving in polished wood

The forms are simple and strong: the muscles of the shoulders and haunches are smooth and rounded, the jaw opens wide on sharp teeth, and the base is cut into flowing layers like wind-worn stone. The glossy finish catches the light along every curve, which suits a desk, a bookcase or a console table. Cast and painted designs stand beside it in our tiger statue collection.

Sizes and wood

Four sizes are offered, given as length, width and height: XL at 40 x 15 x 27 cm, L at 30 x 11 x 20 cm, M at 20 x 8 x 14 cm and S at 15 x 5.5 x 10 cm. The supplier lists the wood as African ebony; in the photos it shows a dark reddish-brown color rather than a jet black.
