Painting Cave of the Tiger

Sunlight pours through an opening in the roof of a cave and falls on a tiger walking straight toward the viewer. On the center panel the animal steps across wet, dark rocks, head low and eyes forward, while golden stone walls, patches of green moss and deep shadows close in on either side across the other four panels.

Light and shadow in a rocky cave

The shaft of light is the heart of the composition. It lands on the tallest panel and fades into darker rock toward the edges, so the eye goes straight to the tiger. The browns, golds and soft greens sit easily with gray or beige walls and a neutral sofa, as the living room photo shows, and the five canvases of stepped heights give the scene a wide, panoramic reach. More tigers in wild settings wait in our tiger canvas collection, and our look at the place of the tiger in art traces how painters have shown the animal over time.

Sizes and frame

Three sizes are offered, Medium, Large and XL, and the canvas size chart gives the dimensions of each one. The painting comes either as the canvas only or with a wooden frame, and it is printed on a cotton and linen canvas.
