A wooden tiger built from simple blocks stands on four flat legs here. Its body is a long rectangular bar, its head a squared block with two small ears and an open mouth cut as a slot ending in a round hole, and a wavy tail sweeps out behind. Black stripes are painted in a herringbone along the back, in bars down each leg and in curved strokes on the cheeks.
A block-built tiger in bare wood
The head, body, legs and tail are cut as separate pieces and joined together, which gives the figurine a carpentered, toy-like look. The light wood is left uncolored apart from the stripes, so its grain shows on every face. It sits well on a shelf or a desk as a piece of decor, and it is solid enough to be handled as a toy.
