Furious Tiger Painting

A roaring tiger turns its head to the right on this portrait canvas, jaws wide open on long pale fangs and one amber eye narrowed. The head is painted in bursts of gold, cream and black, and below the jaw it dissolves into splashes and long drips of paint that run down a dark, smoky brown background.

Fury in splashes of paint

The detail is sharpest around the eye, the nose and the teeth, while the neck and shoulders break apart into loose strokes and specks of color, so the roar seems to burst out of the paint itself. The dark ground gives the canvas a moody, gallery feel that suits an office, a study or a living room in deep tones. Calmer big cats, and a few more fierce ones, wait in our tiger canvas collection.
