Tiger Jean Jacket

A tiger leaps across the upper back of this denim jacket, embroidered in thick threads of orange, white and brown, its jaws open and its claws spread as it springs over a gold swirl of wind. Red and orange maple leaves drift down the back below it, past a second tiger drawn only in fine gold outline, to a small red crest stitched near the hem.

The composition reads from top to bottom like a Japanese print, with the full-color tiger at the shoulders and lighter outline work further down, so the back of the jacket tells a small story. The close-up shows the density of the stitching around the face, where white and amber threads form the fur and red marks the mouth. The front stays classic: a pointed collar, metal shank buttons, two flap chest pockets and side pockets on a faded mid-blue wash with whiskered creases.
