Tiger Phone Case Ancestral Father

Painted in flat patches of orange, rust, brown and cream, a tiger turns its head to the side on this phone case. Only part of the face is shown: one amber eye, a rounded ear, a pink nose and a fan of fine white whiskers, with the rest of the head running off the left edge. The pale off-white background leaves the warm colors of the fur in full view.

A painted portrait in blocks of color

The style is that of a poster painting, built from clear shapes of color rather than fine fur detail, close to a paint-by-number canvas. Each stripe and shadow is a separate block, which gives the face depth with very few tones. The off-center framing makes the design unusual among tiger cases: the eye sits near the middle of the back,, and the light background sets it apart from the darker designs. The quiet, watchful expression suits the name.
