Multicolored Tiger Tattoo

A tiger's head drawn in fine black hatching sits over two overlapping dotted triangles in this design, while splashes of pink, yellow, teal and violet bleed through the lines. Its calm eyes are tinted gold, and two arrows angle down beneath the chin toward the lowest point of the triangles.

Sketch lines, geometry and color

Three styles meet here: an engraving-like sketch for the fur, dotted geometric lines in the manner of dotwork tattoos, and loose patches of watercolor that bring the pop colors. Where the hatching is dense, the colors only tint it, and where the lines thin out the washes take over, so the face seems to dissolve at its edges. The result is cheerful rather than fierce, a tiger that looks straight ahead with a quiet expression. Black ink designs and other painted tigers fill our tiger temporary tattoo collection.
