White Tiger Modern Art

Paint rains down in long colored drips on this canvas, and a white tiger sits dry beneath a black umbrella. Beside it, a second tiger sleeps stretched out on a gray ledge, its coat soaked in streaks of blue, red, green, yellow and violet, while a small striped cub curls between the two. Splashes of color burst from the top of the umbrella where the drops land.

A street-art scene with a story

The style borrows from urban art: a plain pale wall, bold drips of pure color running from the top edge, and animals painted with loose, expressive strokes. The picture invites more than one reading. The sheltered white tiger keeps its black and white coat, the sleeping tiger has taken on the colors of the rain from the middle of its back forward while its hind legs stay black and white, and the cub lies right where the color begins. It is a single landscape canvas, wide enough to work above a sofa or a bed, and the bright drips keep it lively in a room of gray or white. Our article on the place of the tiger in art follows the animal from ancient painting to modern styles, and more prints hang in our tiger canvas collection.
