Tiger Phone Case of the Tundra

Tall golden grass surrounds the tiger on this phone case as it walks straight toward the viewer, head level and eyes fixed ahead. The stalks blur into a soft yellow haze behind it, and blades in the foreground hide its legs, so the striped face and shoulders seem to come out of the grass.

A head-on portrait in golden light

The scene is bathed in warm light, with the orange coat, white cheeks and black stripes set against shades of mustard and olive. The front view shows the full symmetry of the face, from the dark marks on the forehead to the fan of white whiskers. The name of the case calls up the cold north, yet the photograph shows a sunny field of tall grass, the kind of cover tigers use to approach unseen. Our article on the most beautiful tigers in the world looks at some of the best-known tigers and their coats.
