Elder Tiger Head Earrings

Each of these earrings carries a stylized tiger head in deep relief, with a heavy brow, narrowed eyes and a ruff of fur falling in layered points around the jaw. Small swirls curl inside both ears like an old carved ornament, and the forehead is lined with stripes that meet in the center.

An old carved face

The design looks more like a guardian figure from an ancient temple than a portrait from nature. On the gold and silver versions the hollows are darkened, which brings out every line of the face and gives the metal an aged, antique tone. The rose gold version is left bright, so the relief shows through light and shadow alone. Each head hangs from a small loop below a fish hook ear wire finished with a round bead.
