Chinese Spirit Tiger Watch (Wood)

A tiger head is engraved in fine lines at the center of this bamboo dial, its eyes looking out between two black hands. Short engraved strokes mark the minutes around the edge, inside a thin black ring, and the pale grain of the bamboo runs across the whole face, the case and the bracelet.

Bamboo from the case to the clasp

Nearly everything on this watch is cut from bamboo: the round case, the dial and the bracelet of chunky rectangular links, each showing the knots and fibers of the wood. Silver-tone metal shows at the crown on the right side and at the folding clasp under the wrist. The light, warm color sets it apart from steel watches, and the engraving keeps the tiger discreet.
